Printed Double Sided Envelopes 1024 577 EGP-Admin

Printed Double Sided Envelopes

EGP are often asked to supply Printed Double Sided Envelopes, we have recently made dramatic improvements to this process. Feeding envelopes using our original feed table was awkward, the envelopes did not lie flat meaning we could only stack a small quantity at a time. We have now invested in specialist equipment that enables us to present a non-stop feed of envelopes to the press. As the envelopes arrive under the feed head they now lie perfectly flat, meaning they are much easier to feed. This enables us to print on both sides using the “perfecting” facility of our press to turn the envelope over during its travel through the machine. Allowing us to print the face and reverse of the envelope in a single pass at speeds up to 8,000 an hour. At the delivery end of the machine the delivery tray is replaced with a conveyor belt enabling the press to be run non stop. All of this can be seen in action in this video clip.

We are a proud supplier of printed stationary to Hertfordshire Police, who are delighted with the quality of our Printed Double Sided Envelopes.

Fascinating Print Facts

Here at EGP with love everything about print, its such a fascinating and amazing industry. Lunch times are often spent googling interesting facts over a sandwich. Following are some fascinating print facts, hopefully these will liven up your lunch break.

World’s Smallest Printed Book

A 22 page Japanese book containing pictures of the flowers of the four seasons holds a Guinness World Book of Records entry. It may be a fast read, but we don’t advise you doing so without a magnifying glass–unless you want to strain your eyes–because this is no ordinary book; it’s the world’s smallest printed book, 0.74 x 0.75 mm (0.0291 x 0.0295 in).

Largest Printed Catalogue

Remember when catalogues were the premier way to shop? People would spend hours pouring over the glossy pages. In 2005, Aviall Services Inc. released a behemoth that would put even the thickest catalogue to shame. They released their ‘Aviall Product and Catalog Book’ on January 3, 2005. It has 2,656 pages, weighs 7.4 lb (3.4 kg) and is 7.1 cm (2.8 in) thick.

Expensive Ink

The retail cost of black printer ink is one of the most expensive liquids on the planet, far exceeding oil and even space shuttle fuel (on a per gallon basis). It costs over $2,700 per gallon!

Edible Sushi

Chef Homaro Cantu, of Moto in Chicago, starting printing out delightful sushi entrees using a Canon i560 inkjet printer with edible ink in 2005. The son of an engineer, some of his customers have described him as a cross between a mad scientist and gourmet chef. Regardless their opinion, they find his imagination admirable–so much so that they’re willing to pay upwards of $240 for his experimental tasting menu.

Fastest time to print 500 sheets by an office color desktop printer

If you own a printer, you know that searching for just the right one can take quite a bit of time. However, seeing the above fact in a printer’s specs might help to speed up your decision. The Hewlett-Packard Officejet Pro X551dw Printer was pitted against five other printers in the same model class across several manufacturers, to determine which one could print 500 pages the fastest. The HP Officejet Pro X Series printed 500 color sheets in a record seven minutes and 18 seconds.

Highest Initial Print Run For a Fiction Book

When J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books were published, they became more than just fiction–the franchise’s influence stretched beyond the literary realm and quickly became a pop-culture phenomenon. Its popularity is also evidenced by the number of print copies for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The book had an initial print run of 12 million copies, making it the largest initial print run ever.

We’d love to here your fascinating print facts, why not post them below.

2 Colour Printing – Great Value & Impact

In 2 colour printing, two ink colours are used instead of one or four on printed pieces. Adding a second colour to black and white printing will add colour and impact and can improve the professionalism and increase the response on marketing materials. A unique, readily identifiable spot colour is sometimes used by companies to create a brand colour that is used on all their marketing materials. The inks used are typically Pantone® colours, and are frequently used to print a logo, design or symbol in a unique colour. Pantone inks are the industry standard in two-colour printing because they are part of a standardized colour matching system.

Our B3 SM52 is perfect for 2 colour printing. Amazing speed and quality means we can not only offer you competitive prices, but fantastic quality. The SM52 can perforate and number all in pass, so complex forms are no problem. We regularly produce NCR (non-carbon copy paper) pads and forms for many of our clients.

Get in touch today we’d love to help you with your next project and save some you money at the same time.

Design for Print Hints & Tips

Design for Print Hints & Tips

At EGP we like to make sure out customers get the most “bang for their buck”, so we have compiled this list of Design for Print Hints & Tips…

1. Use Colour
There’s a reason most leaflets are full colour – research shows a 50-70% increase in retention of full colour leaflets over black and white. Perceived value is higher in your customer’s minds so they tend to keep hold of them longer.

2. Size Matters
It depends on what you’re using your leaflet for and where it’s going to be displayed, but conventionally, most leaflets tend to be A5 (folded down from A4 or A3 size) or DL size (1/3 A4 folded). Producing leaflets this size should make them fit in nicely with most distribution racks and are a convenient size for most readers. Sticking to these standard sized will also make economical use of our standard sheet sizes thus keeping your costs as low as possible.

3. Stiffer the Better
Floppy leaflets hide your message, slip from racks and might even get removed if they interfere with other leaflets. Make sure you print your leaflet on the right paper weight. Don’t make your leaflets too tall and fold them down the left hand side. If you need advice on paper weights just speak to our expert team.

4. Clear call to action
Check over your leaflet, make sure you’re clearly asking readers to take an action – then run through everything that they’ll want to see to take that action. Phone numbers, addresses, maps, opening times, email addresses, website addresses – can all be easily missed off.

5. Checks and proofs
Copy check again and again – and get someone else to have a look too. Spelling mistakes and bad sentence structure can put off readers and reduce comprehension of your sales message. If you’re self-checking, leave a good night’s sleep before you re-check; It’s amazing what a fresh pair of eyes will spot that you missed before.
